"Using Art to Stimulate Language Learning" by Peng Yu

Senior Lecturer of Chinese in the Languages, Cultures, & Literatures Department, Peng Yu, will be giving a workshop entitled "Using Art to Stimulate Langauge Learning on Friday, November 11th, at 12:00pm in Lab 2 of teh LLC. All are encouraged to attend, especially those instructors wishing to incorporate art into their language teaching. If you missed it, you can see a video of his presentation here.

Capoira Demonstration

Please join us at 12:00pm on Friday, September 2, 2022, in the grassy areas east of the Student Union Building (SUB) for a capoeira demonstration by Capoeira Girassol UCA, a local studio that practices this Brazilian martial art that incorporates elements of dance, fight, and movement, accompanied by indigeous musical instruments.

ALC Bridge Webinar

This event was held on April 14, 2022. 



In this session, participants learned about ALC Bridge and how this innovative platform can help faculty and students learn about internships and careers using their language. They broadened their awareness of careers in language, learned how to cultivate skills and developed an understanding of how to prepare for language careers in this evolving world. Language skills will impact your career regardless of which field you decide to pursue. Knowing your options, and how language skills can enhance job opportunities, will benefit you and put you ahead of your peers. As society becomes increasingly global and multi-cultural, the job market offers an ever-widening range of careers that require practical language skills, combined with other expertise in technology, science, business and more. The adoption of technology solutions for translation and other language-sector services has expanded and diversified the job market for language talent exponentially.
