Services & Resources for Faculty

The staff of the Language Learning Center are here to support and collaborate with faculty in the use of technology for language learning, whether it is in our computer labs or on a special project. Please feel free to set up a consultation with us at any time. Here are some of our resources for faculty:

Lab Reservations
To reserve a lab, contact the checkout desk at 505-277-3106 or stop by. It is recommended that instructors reserve their preferred computer lab, time, and date prior to the date of use to ensure the availability of the lab.

• Lab 1 - Social Learning Lab (laptops available for student checkout - have students come a bit early)
• Lab 2 - Social Learning Lab (desktop computers)
• Lab 3 - Open Lab - not available for classes
• Lab 4 - Traditional Lab
• Lab 5 - Sign Lab
• Lab 6 - Traditional lab with Arabic keyboards
• Movie Room - 60" TV, DVD player, X-Box, video camera, 3 desktop computers. Perfect for virtual meetings, F2F meetings, watching movies. Seats 11 maximum.

Film Library
The LLC has a large library of films. To check out a film or to put a film on reserve for your students, contact the checkout desk at 505-277-3106 or stop by. 

Film & Media Requests
If you want to request movies, music or audiobooks for use in your class that we do not already own, please fill out our Film & Media Request Form. Purchases are made based on budgetary considerations.

AV Equipment Checkout
The LLC has CD players, speakers, Mac adapters (for all types of Mac computers and laptops), a digital projector, overhead projectors, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, voice recorders, stereo USB headphones for recording (students may also check these out with their student ID), video carts (TV, VCR, DVD player), and multi-system carts (TV, VCR, DVD player). Please check these out at the checkout counter or by calling 505-277-3106.

We also offer various high-end equipment such as camcorders, cameras, and iPads for checkout by faculty. To check out any of these, contact Leslie Sandoval at least 24 hours prior to the time needed. We will train faculty and TAs how to use the equipment.

Speaker Series
Each month LLC hosts a guest speaker. The series is geared primarily toward faculty, TAs and researchers involved in language learning. Please see our Speaker Series page for more information.

Media Transfer
We will copy VHS and digital tape to DVD for classroom use. Please give us plenty of time to do this (a week is preferred). Contact Leslie Sandoval.

Special Projects
We would love to work with faculty and TAs in developing special projects, such as multimedia, video, audio, or web-based programs. Please keep us in mind as you plan. We are happy to collaborate in the grant writing process for such projects.
